Digital Literacy: Skills for the 21st Century

This website will help teachers teach the skill of multimedia authoring, as well as to provide teaching materials that can be used with older students. The premise of the teaching ideas and materials at this site is that multimedia authoring is different than authoring traditional paper/text presentations. You can't just adapt what you teach about research papers or persuasive essays to a digital version (such as PowerPoint). The inclusion of images, sounds, and movements (animations) results in different meanings being conveyed and require additional kinds of teaching. The focus is still on the content - example, how to create a persuasive piece - but what a student must learn to accomplish this requires new skills and a new way of looking at information.
