21st Century Classrooms II - Applications Due April 10, 2009
The Burlington School District in partnership with VITA-Learn, the Vermont Department of Education, and other educational partners are seeking Vermont curriculum models that represent 21st century classroom concepts that can be put into practice. Because of this, we are looking for 12 teams of three teachers (each in grades 4 thru 12) to take part in a challenging project to create 21st century curricular units using 21st century instructional practices.
When you become a part of this project, you will be immersed in project/inquiry-based learning, Understanding by Design, true student-centered learning, differentiated instruction, effective use of technology, 21st century skills, and more.
Your team, from the same school or district/supervisory union, will consist of a literacy/language arts/English classroom teacher, a science, and/or social studies classroom teacher and a person who has proven experience supporting technology integration. It will be expected that each of these people are very skilled in their respective areas.
Although participation is open to everyone, preference will be given to teams from the southern part of the state, which has been under-represented in the previous two sessions. Also, the project will take place in a more southern location – Southern Vermont College in Bennington - to accommodate this group.
