Starfall: A Learn to Read Website

At my school this website is used with students learning to read. The website helps young students learn about letters and linking letter sounds together. IT is Primarily designed for first grade, Starfall.com is also useful for kindergarten and second grade. The website is free for all users. There are parts of the website that sell books and journals for a fee. The Starfall Method of reading instruction was developed for the emergent reader. It is based in part on research by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development about how children learn to read. Kids often need a change of pace when learning to read and this website offers the fresh new approach to letter recognition and phonemic practice. Differentiating instruction is always key to student learning. I believe the kids respond better to the use of this website because the kids enjoy working on the computer with an adult.
