The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives provides manipulatives such as bar chart tools, base blocks, geoboards, etc. The new site also has eModules which are described as “learning units” categorized according to grade level and mathematical activity, and lessons created by teachers. The site has all of the virtual manipulatives organized by grade levels (Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) and mathematical categories (number & operations, algebra, geometry, measurement and data analysis & probability.)
Justification:
This project, according to their website, “involves mathematicians, math educators, classroom teachers, software developers, instructional designers and evaluators from around the United States.” The website is sponsored by Utah State University. Teachers who have worked with the tools on this site have had nothing but positive comments about it.
